The Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology Division is an integral part of the Pediatric Heart Institute and the clinical, academic and training programs of the Vanderbilt Department of Anesthesiology. Monroe Carell Jr Children’s Hospital has one of the very few pediatric heart programs in the world with a full-time team of pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists who provide care and direction of anesthesia care for infants and children undergoing heart surgery and catheterization procedures. The Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology team also includes specially trained and experienced nurse anesthetists.
The Division is responsible for training subspecialty pediatric anesthesiology fellows and pediatric cardiac anesthesiology fellows in the perioperative care of infants and children undergoing heart surgery and catheterization procedures.
