Julian Bick, MD, has received a two-year Research in Education Grant from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) for his project, “Incorporation of Basic Transesophageal Echocardiography Training into Anesthesiology Residency.” Dr. Bick is an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.

Dr. Susan Eagle, of the Cardiothoracic Division, has been awarded an American Heart Association National Clinical Research Program grant to fund her research on modifying cardiac surgical practice to improve aortocoronary vein graft patency. The $110,000 grant funding begins January 2010.

Dr. Susan Eagle, assistant professor in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and assistant residency program director, has been appointed to serve on the Anesthesiology Continuing Education (ACE) Editorial Board of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. As part of the Editorial Board, Dr. Eagle will oversee the ACE program which allows anesthesiology practitioners to assess their knowledge, identify areas for improvement and prepare for written anesthesiology recertification examinations.
